Cat Plague and More ...

(MONDAY A.M.) I have a plague on my hands here. Last night I noticed Rinny had a leaky and sore left eye (right side as you look at him) so I checked the others and so does Sparky and also Hobster. Sessie has had it for a week, and you already know how that went. When I tried to give her Clavamox she swiveled her head and bit me to the bone. I can't even touch here so she is on her own with this, but I can treat the others. So when the vet opens I will call and arrange to (first) take Rinpoche in for treatment (his is worse) and lots of meds for the others. I am out of antibiotics. It could be pink eye but I think it is the rhino virus that affects the left eye and the nasal passages. Hobster and Sparky's eyes...

(LATER) It was a 100+ degree trip in the hot car but we had the windows down and drove fast. He enjoyed meeting a dog and a bunny in the lobby. The doctor thought he was a small Hereford calf. LOL. The good news is that I won't have to take the others that have this to the hospital and I can treat them all at home! $95.94 total. I will need more medicine later but that's it for now.

RINPOCHE (vet trip results)
-Exam/consultation
-Conjunctivitis O.S.
-Triple antibiotic Opthalmic ointment
-Transfer factor 200mg capsules
1. Instill triple antibiotic ointment into left eye AM and PM for 5 to 7 days.
2. Transfer factor immune support give one capsule (open and stir-into food) once a day for 5 days then 1 every other day for 3 days.
Conjuntivitis (viral) is like human herpes in that it never leaves the host. He shows no signs of oral infection from this malady, which is very good. Keep inspecting the other cats and treat the ones that have the eye infection like Rinny's- same treatment as Rinny.

WEDNESDAY A.M.) Putting the opthalmic (eye) ointment in the cats' eyes is a task. Last night I got Rinny - no problem. Had to fool little Sparky with a belly rub and got his done, too. But Hobster! After two attempts I nailed him in the kitchen and had to grab the nape of his neck to do it.I didn't get the whole load in his eye, either. Forget Sessie. Not even touchable. Thanks everyone for all the medical advice but I am going to try to follow the vet's orders.

Next Tuesday I will be interviewed by Dr. John Bing, Heidelberg professor (Political Science) for a TV piece about the Tiffin Art Guild and the art scene here. I will be dressed to the "T's" and wearing my new Van Gogh "Starry Night" necktie. The interview is for the cable Heidelberg University (Tiffin OH) TV channel. Yes, we, too, have a Heidelberg. Not quite as ancient as the one in Germany but a younger school, only about 170 years old.

I hope you didn't get sick from Sessie's bite. My Akiko (also a Siamese) bit me to the bone once and I got really sick from it. Couldn't get into my doc for hours and by that time my hand was hot, red and swollen and I had red streaks up my arm. Wish I lived nearby, I'd come and give you a hand with your crew.

Poor Sessie. She must never have be socialized as a kitten and then she has those Siamese traits. Do post a picture of yourself in your Van Gogh
necktie.

So long as Sessie doesn't keep re-infecting the other cats.

Worried that Sessie cannot be treated. I'm sure the vet could treat her (they have their ways, and also assistants). Glad you found a solution for your other kitties. Post a photo of yourself all dolled up. We'd love to see that! Good luck with the interview.

I can't even touch Sessie. She is totally feral, even after 14 months in the house. There is no way to get her to a vet. She is on her own.
