Nothing Much ...

A lot of autos are made here in Ohio, one of the rust belt hubs. I learned this today and it is astounding:

The largest contiguous auto factory in the US is now building the new Chevrolet Cruze. The plant is near Lordstown, Ohio, just a few miles north of Youngstown. The word "Cruze" does not exist as a word except as a family name. (Such as Penelope Cruz.) Well, it does now. Chevrolet invented it.

Here's something you probably didn't know:
The company that employs the most workers manufacturing automobiles in Ohio is not GM, Ford or Chrysler. It is Honda.

Honda has built autos and other vehicles in Ohio for over 30 years. They employ over 14,000 people in the state and their support industries employ over 44,000 more!

Honda is fast approaching their one-millionth automobile to be built in Ohio. They export Ohio-made cars to 20 countries INCLUDING JAPAN!

...........

We got between 6 and 8 inches of new snow, depending on where you measure or where you stand in it. It snowed a bit more today.

I shoveled and put driveway HEAT on the steps and walks. They are clean and bone dry now. The mail carrier thanked me when I stepped out to get the bills.

...........

The countries with the highest per capita number of Facebook users are #1 Norway and #2 Sweden.

...........

The current rage in Germany is a Facebook user opossum. Of course, my cat Hobbes is just as famous over here. He has 4,300 Facebook friends.

...........

Hobbes is much more handsome than any possum I have ever seen.

Ohio's new Repub Gov. Kasich was just in Detroit begging for auto jobs and got a cold shoulder. Of course he just turned down millions in railway development dollars and killed tens of thousands of jobs. What a jerk.

Just saw opossum on the network news. Hobbie wins my vote for cutiepie!

Bite him or pee on him if you see him, will ya Hobbie?

DaDDy sez Kasich refused over 400 million for high speed rail that would have created so many jobs it could have lowered Ohio's unemployment rate by a full percentage point!

I've read where many car names are made up words. I'm waiting for "Montezuma's Revenge"! Stay snuggly, neighbor.

In NYC, as I remember it, the building supers and their underlings would shovel around each building but never at the crosswalk areas. Sometimes you'd have to walk to the middle of the block to cross a street in order to avoid rivers and pools in a thaw. No snow here but about 40 right now and 40 here, believe it, is colder than 40 up north. Maybe it's the water. Kisses to Hobbes, noble blogger.

the nice folks(read "overpaid cretins")who manage our building usually are good about plowing the parking area(and leaving big snow drifts behind the cars)and shoveling the sidewalk(just the sidewalk, no path to the vehicles). when asked to do more they say what they do is "reasoable accomodation" (read: "whadaya want? egg in yer bear?") and I agree with you wholeheartedly, Hobbie is cuter than any ol' 'possum.

Glad I didn't bother to waste my time shoveling my walk.
