Stark Ironies

If anyone thought that the election of Mr. Obama to the presidency indicated a green light for the policies of the morally bankrupt left, they may be mistaken. What I've been reading in the news indicates that the majority of the moral issues that appeared on ballots across the country passed in favor of the right. The Right. Ooops, there I've gone and inserted morality into government. So crucify me. It looks like the country may not be as "left-leaning" as some supposed.
Calm down, liberals. Honestly, sadly, the country IS heading your direction. It's just going to be a bit slower than you expected.
Until then, it looks like marriage in California is still going to be between one man and one woman. I predict that some day, marriage will be defined as a union between anything and anything. Why not? If I love my kitchen chairs and want them to recieve medical benefits and my Social Security when I die, no one should be able to stop me. I might just want to marry my birds or my kitten. They should share in the benefits as well. Seriously, those who are for same sex marriage certainly cannot criticize my choice, no?
Ah, I was afraid someone was going to accuse me of being bitter. I'm not, really. I'm just finding my voice. If you want bitterness, I could name names not to far from the click of a mouse. Nah, we're gonna try to refrain from name calling here and we'll steer a wide berth around the childish, playground tactics. I'm not going to tell anyone to go eat dirt or anything like that.
Thanks for stopping by.

We can disagree and still be friends. I am very liberal in my views but I still like old conservative you. We don't have to think alike to like each other.

You needn't worry about me not stopping by, Jeremy. Friends can disagree, and still respect each other.
There is nothing wrong with a good, healthy discussion from good folks who hold opposing viewpoints. (As my sainted father used to say, "Everybody is entitled to their own stupid opinions!")
I hope you do not censor your own blogs or comments simply because they may stir things up a little bit.
I too fall into the trap of categorizing people with a broad brush. It happens to all of us.
Keep fighting the good fight, my friend. And I will be the loyal opposition.

I fail to understand how name-calling is solve anything. I hate labels, even the label of "liberal", which, I suppose, is one that most who know me would pin on me. If that be the case, then I'm afraid that I take offense to you defaming my character by calling me "morally bankrupt." I would wager, Reverend, that I have just as stringent and ethical a moral code as you do.
Why do we stoop to pigeon-holing people? I guess we do it because it's convenient.
Do you really believe that:
1. All Democrats are "liberals",
2. All liberals are "morally bankrupt",
3. All Republicans are "conservatives",
and 4. All "conservatives" are as pure as the driven snow?
I don't know about the world you live in, but in my world, very few things are entirely black or entirely white. My world has a few gray areas in it.
