My Catastrophe

Yesterday, I took my kitten over to my colleagues' house to play with her brothers. Later that night, I went to fetch her on my bicycle, thinking I would be able to hold on to her and drive all at the same time. It shouldn't have been difficult, except for the fact that I hit a speed bump at full speed. As one hand was occupied with holding the kitten, I lost control and totally wiped out right there in the street. Clothes and shoes all scraped, bruised, kitten running off to who-knows-where, it was harrowing. I almost had to crawl under a car to get the scared kitten. A nice man who lives near the speed bump came out and gave me a plastic bag to put the cat in and said, "Put that cat in the bag or you're going to fall again." I was quite embarrassed. Then I noticed that my bicycle chain had been wedged between the gear wheel and the plastic guard. Freeing the chain with one hand and holding the cat bag in the other hand, I was soon on my way again. So frazzled was I when I arrived home that I forgot to shut and lock the main door to the church/parsonage compound. At 12:10am, I was fast asleep, when the people who run the hot dog stand in front of the church knocked on my door to tell me it was open. Grateful, but very groggy, I thanked them profusely, locked the door and when straight back to bed. I'm still sore. ;)

I hope you start to feel better soon from the bike accident!

Get well soon, my friend! All first time cat owners, I think, make the mistake of trying to travel with their cat without a carrier of some sort. I did the same thing, not on a bike but in my car, and I about had to dismantle the front seats to get the kitten out from underneath them.
Never again....

Sounds like quite a spill

Hope you're feeling better and your bike is still in good shape, now that you've had a chance to assess all your damages.
