Consumer Trial and Tomato Plants

I seem to have been receiving a constant stream of items to test over the past couple of days. I have signed up to various online survey sites over the past few months and seem to be doing away ok with the rewards and incentives I have received. I have probably made around £100 so far with a few things still to come in. Products I have tested in the past include aquafresh toothpaste and a battery operated vibrating..........toothbrush. I have had 3 different types of baby wipes (I think some more are on the way) and Pampers nappies.

Yesterday I received Pantene shampoo and conditioner, Persil washing mashine detergent and scholl gel inserts for my shoes. Then today I have received another pack of pampers nappies. What is great is that these are all products I would probably buy and/or use in some form or the other. Ok the gel insoles maybe not but they are surprisingly comfy and take the burn out of the ball of your foot if you have been wearing heels or new shoes. Now all I need is for one of the survey companies to send me a car or Wii to trial ....or even an iPhone! Something tells me that these products don't really need a survey to tell you they will sell and be usable though.

I have probably posted about my tomato plants in the past but they are doing great. I bought "tumbler tomatoes" a few months back with the intention of growing them on top of my fridge under the velux window. I bought two plants (should have bought more but being a tomato growing virgin decided two was plenty) for £1 each. I stuck one in a bigger pot when we got home and it went mental. Grew from 15cm to 50/60cm within a week. The other one was repotted about 10 days later and is also doing well but not quite as high. The first plant started to produce tiny tomatoes fairly quickly but after around a month it was starting to get a little top heavy. So I staked it up and all looked well until the stem bent right over and the top half of the plant was starting to fail. I was desperate to try and save what looked like 30 potential tomatoes on this part of the plant. I constructed a sort of frame to drape the top part over and hopefully ease the burden on the stem somewhat to try and save the tomatoes. It seems to be working although the leaves have died back now above the break and no new flowers have developed but the tomatoes that were already there have continued to grow and are now beginning to ripen. Once the last remaining tomatoes above the break have ripened I will then try to surgically remove the failing part of the plant.

The other plant is going nuts, loads of new growth and flowers. Looks like my £2 spend on tomato plants was well worth it. What's more the actually eat them!!
