I have finally gotten to the end of my son's two weeks of swimming lessons. I am taking bad for two reasons. Firstly, I am so used to leisurely mornings that having to get myself and the kids fed, dressed and out of the house by 9am is a real challenge. Secondly I do like a lie in and get up because I want to not because I havta!! It has been worth it though to see J's confidence in the water develop and hear his enthusiasm on the way to his next lesson. This week and last he has been on what they call a crash course of lessons. They cater for all levels during these times and split them into handfuls of similar abilities and experience. I also have his name down for proper lessons but it is a waiting game before his "number" is up. I will try and get him into a crash course again during the next school holidays in October.
Today has been stressful. Firstly waiting at the swimming L was playing up no end and being really mean to his sister so I had to discipline him (naughty chair) in the waiting area with loads of watchful parents glowering at me....got the feeling that many were disapproving...attached parenting is practiced a lot here!! Then in the changing room, I put F into the playpen with 2 others and went to get J out of the shower. I was away 30 secs max and when I got back F was eating something. I flipped, with her allergies to dairy, wheat and egg I am very careful as to what she gets to eat. The mother said it's just a rice cake!! I replied that it doesn't matter you can't just hand out food to other people's children without asking. She replied it is just an organic rice cake!! I was getting really adgetated as if my daughter is going to react it is very quick and although I had her meds with me rice cake or not there could still be wheat and dairy in them depending on make, variety etc. I tried to explain about her being allergic to foods and was then told that she is just highly sensitive. My hackles were up and I started to go at her!! Not that it is any of your business but my daughter is seriously allergic to foods and has had blood tests to prove it. I don't mean to be mean and rant and rave but I have had a couple of nasty scares with her and if I can avoid it again I go out of my way to do so.
To add insult to injury I had left my mum at home when I was away with the kids to the pool. She was helping me catch up with my laundry as the weather has been so bad that nothing has been getting dried and my house has clothes hanging everywhere. She was left to hang out a load and put more on ...today is actually windy and dry. When I got back she had indeed hung out my wet stuff but I took real exception at her using 2 pegs for my knickers.....they are nothing near the size of a duvet cover as my husband tries to tell folk....and they are nowhere big enough to warrant 2 pegs. The first and last time she gets to help with my laundry she was seriously taking the piss!!
