In the Blink of an Eye
My eldest is only 9 weeks away from starting school. The thought of which is scary enough as what have I done over the past 5 years other than breed!?
We had a P1 parents' induction evening last night where we got to meet the teachers and see around the setting. It is lovely really bright and inviting. But it is hot! They have under floor heating so it takes ages to cool down. The children are allowed water bottles on their desk to keep them hydrated which is good news. J drinks like nothing on earth and will be at the toilet frequently.
It is unbelievable that he is old enough, it seems like only yesterday that I was suffering with heartburn and backache from being pregnant with him.
He is split between wanting to go to school and staying in the safe haven of nursery. I am quite excited about seeing him in his school uniform but I am sure when the first day of term is upon us it will be a different story. There is quite a few parents though that are sending their first born to school so we will be in good company if we start blubbing. I have actually arranged a coffee morning at mine that day for the first timers. So we are not alone when it comes to the few hours that our children are in school.
The first few weeks will be hectic as the children are broken on gently by only going till lunch time. But I will have L at nursery by then too so I will be running around constantly for a few weeks. I might look into changing his place to a morning one as the school times are not what I first thought. But numbers are strict and staffing has changed as there is not the children so changing slots might be a problem.
I can only ask.
