I have been watching news coverage of the terrible flooding around Brisbane and other Queensland regions lately. These images are more often linked to the flood plain regions of India and third world areas. They are truly terrifying but brings back home that no matter where we live we are all the same and make the best of what is being thrown at us.It has just been reported on TV that the area affected is bigger than the size of France and Germany combined.

It is humbling to watch these powers of nature and how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. Many people these days are so wrapped up in money and possessions but in reality none of that matters. People in Brisbane are being evacuated and told to quickly gather together Birth and marriage certificates and a few treasured photos whilst leaving behind all the rest! I hope that these extreme conditions begin to ease soon so that people effected are able to start rebuilding their lives once more.

I have been following a few school friends on Facebook, who have emigrated to Australia, it is facinating to see their first hand photos on their walls and not just see and hear what is shown on the news. Where I live we are moaning about snow and how long the white stuff is sticking around, but at least I can shovel it out of the way.
