Jj You Pissed Me Off

I don’t often get involved in politics here-Most people know I am a conservative, middle of the road American. I don’t like the far right or the far left. Like many Americans I walk a path down the middle. I have my own personal beliefs and I will vote for the candidate that I feel will support my dream of where America needs to go.

In politics there is fair game and there are places you just shouldn’t go. I feel jjohn has gone over the boundary.

Strider posted a blog about John McClain’s pick for his VP, A very good blog, but among the comments I found jjohns comment.  He crossed (in my opinion) over the line. I know we are supposed to play nice and not offend any-one-but guess what he offended me. He has attacked my core values.

Jjohn had the balls to say this about Sarah Palin and her family.

“Reproducing like a rabbit is not my idea of family values. Where are these 5 kids (well, Ok, one is in the military) while she's out all day gaining experience in government? Who is paying for it? Who is going to pay to care for the retarded one? Depends on your idea of a family, I suppose....”

My immediate response was:

So you are against her because she is a competent woman that has a good marriage, 5 children and is able to have a successful career where she is able to contribute to our society? Or is because she is pro-life and made the personal life choice to raise and nurture a child with Down’s syndrome. I don’t think she is asking you to help pay for her child. Shame on you.

If you don’t like her politics—fine. Bu how can you attack a woman-a family who is brave enough to raise a child with that disability.

You sir are the bigot.

As a parent of a "special needs" child I have found that no child is "retarded". Each child has their own limitations and abilities to learn, my child is just as smart and gifted as anybody's child..even more so in my opinion. About the child care issue, I work nights and my wife works days and I provide the care for my children while she works and she is also attending nursing school on the weekends. I'd write more but I may just do a blog on this subject, but just to let you know Grumpy i'm right behind you 100%

I defended jjohn and I stand by it. I am pro choice for a very good reason, namely I see the life my grandson is living and I see how it impacts my daughter's life. I repeat: Why would you want to see a child suffer?

City council and mayorship

Palin began her political career in 1992 when running for Wasilla city council, supporting a controversial new sales tax and advocating "a safer, more progressive Wasilla".[15] She won and served two terms on the council from 1992 to 1996.

In 1996, she challenged and defeated incumbent mayor John Stein, criticizing wasteful spending and high taxes.[6] In January 1997, Palin fired the Wasilla police chief, citing a failure to support her administration.[16] In response, a group of 60 residents calling themselves Concerned Citizens for Wasilla discussed attempting a recall campaign against Palin, but decided against it.[17] The fired police chief later sued Palin on the grounds that he was fired because he supported the campaign of Palin's opponent, but his suit was dismissed when the judge ruled that Palin had the right under state law to fire city employees, even for political reasons.[18]

Palin followed through on campaign promises to reduce the salary of the mayor, and to reduce property taxes by 40 percent.[6] She increased the city sales tax to pay for construction of an indoor ice rink and sports complex.[19] At this time, state Republican leaders began grooming her for higher office.[15] She ran for re-election as mayor against Stein in 1999, winning by an even larger margin.[6][20] Palin was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.[21]

It is a narrow view if anyone thinks a woman can not have a career and a family. I am very excited about her nomination. I think she makes HIllary look like a granny.

You left out my reply to your comment:
I phrased my comment as a question because it is just that: a question. President (VP, but she would be a heart-beat away) of the United States is not a 9 to 5 job. If you ask around, you'll find that many women consider taking care of disabled child to be a full-time stay-a-home job. So yeah, it's a valid question: Who who be taking care of her family while she is taking care of our country?
-
It is the right that spouts off about family values, so these are valid questions! Does family no longer count in the face of political ambition?
