The Zoo at Okc.what a Day.

I always loved going to the Zoo.
Was excited that Jeri says we are going to the zoo this morning.
The weather was great a bit hot but nice.
We could have spend all day there.
Not sure that we picked the right time as most of the animals were napping.
It was a long hot tiring day as we did managed to get it done.
Jeri is quite a trooper and we do enjoy her as our guide while here in our stay in OKC.
Here are just a few pictures
The Elephant show was great and the trainers there unbelievable.
Hope that you liked them.

But I have heard before that they are good for the animals... I just can't imagine my freedom taken away, ya know? It's tough.

I'm glad the animals seemed happy... Did you ever see the movie Instinct with Cuba gooding jr and Anthony Hopkins? It killed me and brought about my change in mindset about zoos. I like Tim's comment, we humans are the cause of animals needing extinction protection...

This looks like one of the better zoos, with space for the animals. Generally tho' zoos depress me when they're all in cages and pacing back and forth like jailed inmates.

Zoo habitats have improved so much. Many zoos are focuses mostly on species conservation and breeding to save so many endangered animals. So glad you could see it.

have 2 zoos here one the usual with pens and cages ; the other is an open range one for breeding programs, there you go around in a bus

In a bus.Oh!this is for old folks. No walking?

If nothing else zoo's will save certain species from extinction, so that people can enjoy them for years to come. They won't have to look in a book and wonder what they looked like. Also it has been man's greed that has made zoo's a necessity.

right on there Tim.

Nice that the inmates can move around. I guess since food is on the house it's a pretty good deal. Not natural, but easy. Ugh.. who knows...

Yes Kristy, they have large natural habitats. It is not freedom but it is not
abuse. Only the male elephant seemed unhappy...he had an anxiety disorder but the girls seemed very content and of course the elephant
baby loves her mother and her auntie. It was my favorite day because I
loved being outside and seeing the animals.
