Things have been going well for me. We had that big snowstorm last sunday and this weekend it is like Spring. Just perfect! Although my back is still out of whack from cleaning my car off last Sunday night! It's gotten better, it is just healing slowly.

I have let a new friend into my life more. Up until this point my friendships at work have been mostly superficial, except for John and Jake. Hmm, seems to be J thing as my new friend is Josh. He is in his early 20's, has a teaching degree but cannot find a permanent teaching job. So he substitutes at schools during the week day and then works at walmart nights and weekends. When I first met Josh, he was very intimidating and scary even. I have come to realize he just has a sarcastic sense of humor. He is also over 6 feet tall and just a really big guy. We have been paired up lately at work and he loves breaking up our shift by being silly. Whether its shooting rubber bands at me or just hollering my name to wake me up. When I was leaving last night he came over and gave me a hug. Josh is not a huggy type person and it just melted me. See I do have a good influence on people, making themhug me! lol

Barbara is another new friend. Now to an outsider who does not know her, she seems very wierd, eccentric even. She wears capris with crazy colored socks. She is loud, very loud. But she has a heart of gold. One day on break she was telling me about a series she has been watching on showtime, Dexter. Apparently he is a serial killer who also works for the police as a forensics expert. I told her that was my kind of show. She brought in season one on dvd for me to watch. When I brought them back to her the other day, she told me she had put a package of chicken in the fridge for me. She gets food from the food bank and this time she got 40 pounds of chicken. So she brought me about 10 pounds.

Then there is Jake, my not new friend. I mentioned how he had a date a few weeks back. Well I have never seen my friend happier. They are now an item! I see how this is changing him. He is more open with other people, where he used to just close up around people. Last night when I got off, he walked me to my car. He was doing his Jake's comedy show the whole way. He has dreams of being a comic. He kept me talking so long after work that hubby was starting to get worried about me. But we had lost track of time, just laughing and being stupid. Jake said he thought I could use a good laugh after my shift at walmart.

At one point during my shift they sent me to be a door greeter so that lady could take her lunch break. And just my luck here came hubby, kota and my daughter. Kota was laughing so hard saying, my mom's the greeter! It was kind of fun being the greeter. People really like to pick on the greeter it seems. But it was all in good fun.

Next week Kota will start going to Jake's house after school. Jake's sister is going to babysit him after school. Jake is so excited and can't wait to have kota playing video games with him. He is also excited that kota will be there in summer as well.

It is nice to be surrounded with good friends, people I can really let into my life. People I can go to for a hug or give one in return. It's another reason I look forward to going to work. A CSM position came up for bid recently. But after discussing it with hubby, I did not apply. I like the no pressure, no stress aspect of being a cashier. I am not trying to make a career. I like the flexibility of my schedule because after all, my family comes first. But that paycheck is nice!
