haha, gotcha with the title didn't I? Last night was an adult's night out. Me, hubby and our two bestest friends went out for a night on the town. Actually three towns. First was dinner here locally. Then off we headed south to some little bar in the southern part of our state. A band was playing that our friends know. The lead singer was awesome! she did some gretchen wilson and let me tell you, she sounded better than gretchen! But the place was so small the noise was bothering our friends. hehehe. I am kind of used to small bars and loud noise so I was fine. But we decided to head to their favorite watering hole, a karoake bar. Now Donna does not drink at all so she was our designated driver. She also loves to sing and she sings well! So even though I had to work today I stayed out way past my bedtime. hehehe We got home around 1 and I had to be at work by 9:30. Thankfully I only had to work until 2. Now let me try to explain how I felt today. I didn't have a hangover because I only had 3 beers all night. But the lack of sleep brought to mind a Toby Keith song. I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.
We had so much fun, being silly, singing along to songs, talking. We made plans to do this more often. And to go camping together again this summer. They are just the bestest friends because they are so much like us. In fact, Donna and I call ourselves sisters by another mother. Thats how close we are. I am so grateful they kidnapped us and took us out. It was truly just what I needed! Who knows, maybe next time I will get up to sing a song. hehehe I can do a good Toby Keith impersonation. There was another lady there who sang Black Velvet. Gave me chills to hear her sing. And these are people who just like to have fun, sing in front of a crowd and share their talent. There was also an older guy who did some great songs, Fly Me to the Moon. He was equally awesome!
I of course came home and took a nap even though Nascar started today! The Daytona 500!!!!
I haven't been blogging much lately. I kind of got a sour taste from it lately. But I enjoy blogging and the interaction with some wonderful people.
One bad note lately. My bestest bud John got fired from walmart. Kind of suspicious to me. See he was coming up on his 5 years at walmart and suddenly they find a reason to fire him. Yep, I cried when I heard. He came into the store one night and gave me a big John hug. I still will see him at tae kwon do and Kota will soon be going to his house for after school babysitting by John's sister. You hear all kinds of bad things about walmart and let me tell you, most of them are true. I am lucky in my position, I don't have to deal with management too much, just customers. And the customers love me. For a part time job, this is just my place to be. And in these bad times, you can't be choosy about where you work. At least I can say I am contributing to my family and it makes me feel good to work again.
Without hurting feelings I would like to give a shout out to two of my friends here. First Teacherwoman, Deb. You know I love you and you are in my prayers. I really wish I could just pop in and take you out for a glass of wine, give you a big hug and talk for hours. And GreatMartin. Dude, you just rock! Since your surgery I have seen you come a long way, back to the Martin you used to be. You never fail to boost our spirits or give us a kick in the pants when needed! I value both of these dear friends.
I will try including that in future blogs, people I give a shout out to. So if I haven't mentioned you yet, hold tight, it will come!
