I thing I can claim being older on this blog than anyone but Nenah. I remember the great depression and the lack of hope that ate men's souls. I remember being hungry some of the time. I remember World War II and Gold Star Mom's and coffee and shoes being rationed. I remember men coming back from the war, a shadow of their former selves. Life was hard my friends and you bumped against reality constantly.
We had good times and we learned to take the bitter with the sweet. I would live it all over again for the good times. The journey has been interesting to say the least.
I typed a very long blog about the depression but it was eaten up in blogger hell where articles go when they suddenly leave your screen. Suffice it to say that whatever money has to be spent to avoid another depression is well worth it.
