There is a display of Faberge eggs at the Oklahoma City
Museum of art and I attended yesterday with five friends.
We took Mary's Denali which is beyond luxurious. It was
a beautiful display of a surfiet of excess. I could not
help but think of real people starving while royalty had
these exquiste objects crafted.
I was struck by the beauty of one stone in particular called Bowenite. It was the color of pale green jade and
enhanced with diamonds, silver gold and pearls. A lot of
ivory went into the creation of these beautiful things and
again I thought of slaughtered elephants. I should have
put those thoughts aside and just reveled in the beauty
of the displays but my friends and I could not seem to
get to the place of sheer appreciation without thinking
of the history during that time.
We went out to lunch at a fabulous Italian place. The
food was excellent. I had spinach and artichoke pasta
with chicken and it was excellent but so rich that I
could hardly make a dent in it. The Italian bread was
so good and was served with olive oil and herbs for
dipping.
When we got home, we discovered a new Ross store had
opened up in a nearby shopping mall. Ellie called and
we immediately went. I got a cute designer shirt, an
Ellen Tracy blouse and a pair of jeans and jewelry tools
for Ted for 37.00 dollars. Ellie bought a dress and
rushed home to get Ashley, who is very stylish, so that
she could pick out some things. Adrienne was working but
cares little for clothes. It will bring new life to our
mall because it was thronged.
