I grew up without electricity, with a party line telephone and an outhouse and a Sears Roebuck catalog. We didn't have anything but one of those black washpots to wash our clothing and all baths got taken in a tin tub on the backporch. When I stop and think a bout how much life has changed, I am blown away.
It sounds frivolous but the things that I would hate to
lose most would be my hot rollers and my hair dryer. Think of all the things that we have now that save so much labor. You can talk all you want about the fragrence of sun dried sheets but I prefer bounce and my dryer. I have had my fingers frozen to the bone hanging diapers in cold
weather.
I could not bear to think of losing my dishwasher. These kinds of things are certainly not indispensable but they sure do make life more fun.
