It is a Dark and Stormy Night

Usually I sleep so well during a thunderstorm and this was a good one. However, having a l03 pound dog in my bed is not conducive to rest. I guess that Rex had to stay out in storms when he was living with those awful people who should never have owned an animal. In a while, I will get up and drink some hot chocolate. It works like a drug for me.

I have been on a reading marathon. I just finished a book by Larry McMurtry and it was terribly disappointing. I think he must have needed a few bucks and dashed it off. He killed off many of his characters. It sounded as if he didn't know what else to do with them. He won the Pulitzer prize
for Lonsome Dove and Terms of Endearment was another
great one. This new book is called, Rhino Ranch and I
wouldn't recommend it.

I am trying to order all of the books I haven't read by Pat
Conroy. I am reading My Losing Season and in the preface,
he tells of the depression that he falls prey to about every ten years. He had an abusive and sadistic father and he says that has prompted one of his brothers suicide and his sister's mental illness. It makes you wonder why his mother didn't leave before she ended up with seven children and no
options.

I am also rounding up tax documents. I am a very bad record keeper and the move sure didn't help matters. I also
don't seem to get much done. It is too easy to spend the day
with a book.
