Cruise News Two

Ted and were told that our time to board the boat was at
twelve p. m. We were an hour early. We walked around
Galveston for about an hour and then went to Fisherman's
Wharf for lunch. It is supposed to be world famous but it
really was not that good. Of course they were overwhelmed
by an absolute herd of people waiting to get on either the
Carnival Conquest Or the Voyager of the seas. We had to wait and hour and a half to get seated.

After we ate lunch, we joined the line waiting to get on the ship. No provision was made for the handicapped or for
people with diabetes. The children were given a sandwich
and a bottle of water. We finally got on board at 6:45 amd
there were not a lot of happy campers.

We were so tired that we just had room service and watched tv until bed time. Big surprise. The food was excellent and got it to us hot. The food was wonderful, even in the buffet and throughout the ship.

The first day, we just enjoyed getting familar with the
ship and it's duty free merchandise. I got two Guess purses. One gray and one black. I may save the black
one for Ellie's birthday.

The relatively unspoiled island of Roatan, Honduras, had
become a tourist trap since the last time we were there.
We had become friendly with a couple from Dallas and we
shared a cab with them downtown and explored together.
Big Mistake. They turned out to be no fun at all. We
got some vanilla concentrait there. We love Mexican
vanilla. It has a hint of coconut flavor.

The shows were not exceptional and we had made dinner reservations for seven so after the food and drink we
were to sleepy to stay up and watch all of them. We
loved the dining experience but it took an hour and a
half. We had an appetizer, a cheese and fruit plate and
then the entree and of course dessert. We even had a
devastatingly handsome Latino head waiter.

Costa Maya was entertaing. However, there were five huge
ships docked there at the same time. That made for huge
crowds. They were the Voyager who is so large that you
seldom felt any motion, then the Carnival Dream and the
Norwegian Jewel, the Carnival Conquest and a home made
looking ship that I didn't see the name of.

Cozumel is full of Mexicans who follow you and and promise
great deals but it is sort of a rip off. I did fined

an
onyx chess set for Adrienne with Aztec pieces for l6
dollars and had to carry the heavy thing all over. I would
have gotten an even larger one if it had not been for the
weight. Adrienne likes ancient civilasations.

The next day we were at Sea and I had to re-pack every
thing that we had hung up and put in drawers. We were
scheduled to leave the ship the next morning at nine a.m.
We got off at l2:30 and literally flew home. I punched a
hole in the floor board....just kidding. Ted is a very
aggresive driver. It was good to be home again.

We did have a great five days which is all you really get
on a seven day cruise except on Norwegian. They get you
on and off in ten minutes and greet you with mimosas and
champagne when you enter the ship. Needless to say it is
our favorite cruise line even though they do not leave
from Galveston any more.
