I am torn with this actually. I agree they shouldn't be a "ruling body" so to speak, but we obviously need some kind of international body to keep countries from getting out of hand (Darfur, unauthorized wars of aggression (imagine if other countries decided to do what "the decider" did to countries and governments they didn't like). Plus, as and advisory and resource entity, problem solving with surrounding nations to countries with problems such as war and genocide on issues such as refugee care, human rights violations and the like, their collaborative services can be valuable. Yes, in it's current state, the U.N. has lots (and lots and lots) of problems, and NONE of us want to go toward a one world government, but we can't ignore the actual (or potential) pros to such an organization either.
As scary and sad as it is, I would put few things past them...
I am with you on this one! While obviously some kind of disciplinary actions need to be in our schools, I don't think that is it. When I was in grade school, it was used, and the variety of paddles, some with holes in them, are just unbelievable to think about today. Grant it, we didn't have the school shootings and kids doing things as nuts as we see today, but I think that has more to do with decreased parental involvement to convey morality and monitor behaviors due to both parents having to work to get the family by financially. If our social, political and financial environments would allow parents the time and opportunity to more effectively care for their families, there would be less crazed kids and divorces. But that is just my opinion.
He's smart, but whats with that new look...
Don't look at me, don't have the cash flow to qualify as a yawn...
congrats on the new addition!
First my reply from blogster..then I need to add... Yes it it true there is a variety of factors that are not taken into account in the "wage gap". I can agree there. BUT, I don't think things like the kids or Maternity leave are considered when employment is. As you know, I work in a female dominated profession, so if that was their criteria, the nursing shortage would be a hell of a lot worse.
"why are we blaming republicans" They filibustered the ledbetter bill, they wouldn't even let it come to a vote on the floor. IE they either don't care, or are continuing on this trend to make Democrats look inept by filibustering everything they try to do.
So, the statistics you site, and because I know you and know you are really smart, I assume they are correct, shows that McCain's statement reveals two things about him. One, he does in fact assume without bothering to read about 50% of our population that you gals are just uneducated, and thus the pay gap is "justified". And two, that the pay differences are caused by an independent variable separate from education and qualifications. Right?
Thank you for helping to make my point through elaboration....
""So now you will say that we, “are a second class citizen to the old rich white guy republican party†*coughs* Bull ####!""
OK, so if they refused to hear the bill on the floor, and they have no Idea the educational trends of women in our modern world, the question becomes why do they see this as a bad thing? What rationale do they have to prevent female employees from suing an employer who has been proven to be paying her less than her male counterparts (assuming equal (not better as your research shows) educational trends and experience?)
So you are saying pay discrimination is acceptible because women, regardless of this trend you show of improved education (debunking McCain's half baked notion) are a "corporate libability" as the primary caregivers of the family?
Wondered what happened to you, but kinda figured you had alot on your plate at the time. All is well in my neck of the woods...
I have had more than my share of arguements and fighting online, and strangely, it can be quite fun. But yea, it doesn't get you far in small communities such as these.
"By picking who they choose to serve they take away the power of those around them to exploit them."----Never really thought about it like that...
Reminds me of the plane used at gitmo that crashed with the cocaine on it in mexico...
