VSA has a call for art for a 6" x 9" inch post card. The theme/ topic is how we define disability. It just so happens that when I last met with my therapist, I used the example of a picture puzzle to describe coping with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I feel as if I am constantly reassembling myself, as if sometimes I can not find all of the pieces to get myself back together again. When I saw this call for art, I pulled an image of one of my paintings into Photoshop and superimposed a puzzle over it (its rough, but you get the idea.) I don't think it will matter that I completed the image for the art call in Photoshop because they do not want the original image- just a post card print, and the original painting is one of my own. I even used myself as the model/ subject. This is so much more interesting than the original painting that I just may have to paint the puzzle pieces right on the actual canvas. (If only I knew where the original was!)
