Just saw this movie for the first time today and had tears in my eyes thirty minutes into the movie. Oh, how touching a tribute this is. It is about a Marine officer assigned to Marine HQ who in 2004 volunteers to escort home the body of a soldier killed in action. The Marine is Lance Corporal Chance Phelps. He never knew PFC Phelps. The officer (Kevin Bacon) felt out of touch and removed from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and thought it might help him reconnect with what being a Marine was all about. Acting as Escort succeeded in doing that- and more. If you have not seen this movie, rent it sometime.
If you are as soft as I am, have a box of tissue nearby.
