Donnamarie's Comments

I think I have way too much to say on this subject to put it all into a comment, so if I want to speak my mind, I'll have to do some blogging and put it all in a post of my own. What I will say here is that an awful lot of opponents and "so what, I don't care" people are missing the basic point...as citizens of this country, ALL are entitled to the SAME rights as every other citizen, and no right should be taken away or denied ANY citizen who is not in direct violation of any laws that determine citizenship and/or citizens' rights. This is supposedly guaranteed by the US government, regardless of what a state's opinion or any person's opinion. And, if it is a law of the land, then any such discrimination is in violation of national law, therefore contradictory to the US legal system. This all adds up to it being of national concern, not just a concern of individual states. Heterosexuals may not be effected in the same way as GLBT members in regards to this particular issue, but everyone's rights and guaranteed protection of those rights are threatened and compromised when any violations are allowed to exist and discrimination is allowed to continue.

Oops, don't think I'm going to be reading this one.

I can't go by reviews given by critics, but everyone I know personally who has seen this movie loved it. Knowing what most of these people like and enjoy, I don't think they were too concerned with the storyline itself, just the fact that there was a story, actors that they like, and some good humor and action. I bought this DVD for my brother for Christmas...oh, how I wish I had broken one of my own rules and just opened the package and watched it before wrapping it up to give to him. Because I behaved myself, I have not yet seen the movie.

I am a bit jealous. I hear Logo is pretty darn good, but it is not available through my cable provider. Well, maybe someday it will be.

Well, I'm happy to read a positive review of the movie. Not that entire reviews have been bad, but many have falted so many different things about the movie that I was absorbing more negative vibes than positive ones. I didn't care, though, because I had made up my mind that I was going to see this movie anyway. I loved every Indiana Jones movie before, so inspite of anything that might be said, I WANT TO see this movie!

I saw the movie twice on the movie screen, then bought the DVD as soon as it came out. I've watched it more than a dozen times. I love the story, love and regard many of the lines as outstanding, enjoy most (if not all) of the animation and, yes, love Josh's "Believe" so that I look forward to it as much as any other part of the movie! It's pretty safe to say that this is a favorite of mine!

The heat did hit hard because we never really built up to those temps... it just hit us like a hammer over the head! I never remember schools letting out early or being closed due to the heat, but I believe it was because it was such an extreme heat and most classes are winding down anyway, so why let the heat torture everybody and risk heat-related complications? (I just remember some hot days in my school days where the class would be moved outdoors to sit on the ground under a tree.) When heat is to be expected, it's still not always easier, but somehow easier to accept and cope with... but this past heat wave was not in August! That's also part of the problem, don't you think?

Excellent, very stirring tribute to your father and all fathers!

Let's hope the dream home is spared from any damage at all, but let us be thankful that the delay has meant that he and his family are out of harm's way. The loss or damage of the home would be devastating, but the loss or injury of your son and his family would be tragic. Let's be thankful for the goodness in all that seems so completely bad.

I like the looseness...it invites observers to create more out of the painting that will be based on the deliberate image you present to them. You have made this a picture to examine and explore, not one to just absorb all at once. I like how I found myself lingering over it because it offers more than what I would ever get with just a glance. I guess you can tell that I like it, huh?

Richard, these are awesome pictures! You know I usually read your posts and comment on them elsewhere, but I was here and decided not to wait to check this post out until I got there. Boy, am I glad I popped in now instead of waiting! I have so much that I could say on each of these photos, but the comment would be longer than your post! I'll just summarize by saying that I expected Clarence (from It's a Wonderful Life) to start talking in one of them, I saw pics that were equal to what a movie could use as backdrops, I saw pics that were nature's version of artwork, and I saw images that could stretch my imagination. Excellent!

You know I will see you there because we're always there. It's nice to visit here, though, because some of our friends do live here, so stop in once in awhile, Richard. I'm sure some would like you to stop in and say hello to them. Maybe then they wouldn't mind popping over to say hello to you once in awhile, too.

What a great idea! It's healthy for the body, that's for sure. And, it's good for the mind, as you pointed out, because it keeps you busy. And, because it takes going and doing, other energy is used, too. Having it on the schedule also helps with some routine, a schedule, which is also a good thing. I hope it all works out for everybody.
