I'm so happy to hear that you had a nice, happy trip. The scenery must have made the drive spectacular, even if there some less than ideal conditions to deal with. And, I'm especially happy to hear that you got to spend some time visiting. It's too bad your grandson cried, but that's proof of the love he has for you. I know you didn't get to go to your daughter's place, but it was more important to see her than it was to see where she lives. Maybe things will be different in the future, but for now you know that you were all able to get together and enjoy the time. Now I'm glad you made it home safe and sound.
Well, your hopes have come true...I loved this!
Oh, it's all so true that it is so funny! The cartoon...I love the purse, it's like having two bags in one!
Awww, I love doggies! She's so cutesy!
Nope, you won't catch me doing that! I'd need at least one hand to be on the phone! (Can't miss those calls! lol)
That's beautiful!
OMG! Way too funny! I am DEFINITELY a boomer!
How sad he had to die so young. He was obviously a guy full of fun, someone who got a kick out of life. To think that life was taken from him so early is very sad. But, look at the impression his short life made on the people who knew him, including you.
It is so sad that this continues to be a major problem, especially when there's an impression that things have gotten better for those who are GLBT. As signs continue to appear that more and more people are becoming tolerant and life has become easier than it used to be, you would think that things like suicide, bashings, discrimination in housing and jobs, etc., would be on the decline. But, as with most things in history, as soon as there's any favorable progress, the enemy strengthens it's blows and fights harder. With that kind of resistence and negative persistence, the suicides, bashings, discrimination, etc. will continue.
This is interesting reading, but none of it surprises me. Human instinct, biological needs, outside influences, the internal self all play a part in who a person is. The "what" a person is, meaning race, sexual orientation, etc. may be a part of who a person is, too, but it doesn't take away from the fact that a person may or may not want certain things in life. Being a lesbian doesn't mean a woman's maternal drive doesn't exist. Just because a guy is gay doesn't mean he has no paternal interests. If either of these examples were true, then it would also mean that all straight woman do want to have children, etc. So, of course, there are members of the LGBT community who want to settle down with one partner and have/raise children...just as there are members who do not. Sounds like how it is with everybody, all kinds of people. It's just that many LGBT members of the past didn't realize the possibility of such things before, many believing that they really had to live differently. Times have changed things (in some ways) allowing for more possibilities.
You keep throwing out things to lure me to Florida!
I haven't seen Brokeback yet, so don't spoil it for me! I'm betting that I will like that movie! I would like to see the one that this post is referring to because I'm fascinated with that whole subject. I get the feeling, though, that it can't really be compared with Brokeback when the time comes to determine which of the two is better. It's like comparing apples and oranges. You might have a preference for one, but it's not necessarily because it's better than the other.
I'm going to pass on this movie...unless it graces my TV screen and I catch myself watching it without realizing it! Of course, by then, the censors would have had their field day, so there won't be any real nudity to check out...oh, maybe the blur of a backside, but certainly not a frontal!
Bashing is bashing...if it's called that and is considered wrong, then the same procedures and attention should apply to all bashings! Gays are not asking that something be done differently because they are gay, they're asking that the same be done as would be done for everybody! The case should not be closed...it wouldn't be closed if it was "heterosexual Harry" that got assaulted!
