Well, yes actually I have empty nest syndrome myself since my youngest is no longer living at home anymore, but I am referring to a different nest. I looked out to check on our little squatters and surprise........the nest was gone as in disintegrated and no little birdies. But then upon closer inspection there stood one lone little guy clinging to the window frame for dear life.
Of course I noticed mama bird was not far off and she kept coming over on the clothesline. Maybe she was offering encouragement to her hesitant offspring. When I went out a few hours later this little bird had found it's wings and flew away too. John and I were discussing the nest construction and the fact that it fell apart when the little chicks looked about ready to leave the nest. We thought maybe this is part of the plan in the bird world to encourage the nearly grown "teens" to leave the nest when it is time to go out on their own. When the nest falls apart, they pretty much have to go. We were thinking that perhaps we humans could learn a lot from the birds. LOL
