Sam has been chirping away. It is mating season for our African Clawed Frogs. As you can see Sam (the dark-colored one) is being very amorous toward Ella (the white one). Sam and Ella have been here for about six years. I noticed the chirping sounds a few nights ago because I usually stay up later than John does. It is how the males call for a mate in the wild. Sam sounded off early this evening and John got to hear his call. The sound is similar to that of crickets at night. Other than this activity they really aren't very interesting pets. The tank fits well in the spot where it is so for now it stays for its decorative effect. John says that they are a hardy species and may outlive the both of us. After that they are on their own. LOL
