I have just encountered the "worst" Computer virus I have ever met.

The name is "Win32:Vitro".

I've mentioned before I program, I also mentioned I used to write some very complex computer viruses (to learn, but never to release).

I have anti-virus soft in my computer. And generally, I know they can't fix everthing (too many variables). The reasons would take forever to explain. Lets just say.. I usually don't worry about computer viruses.. cause if I get one, and my anti-virus software can't remove it. I know enough about them that I can usually manually stop them before much damage.

This one however, totally screwed my computer! It went through and infected every single (.exe) file. All executable program files in the computer before my antivirus soft could stop it. Once Anti-virus did, it was too late. It could not repair the .exe files, it could only delete them. Which meant.. every single executable file stopped working. And it did this super fast. I had no way to recover anything. I had to do a full re-format, and start from scratch. Losing many pictures of family and friends, losing 30,000 music files, losing 30,000 video games... plus a ton more. I had FAR too much to back up correctly. Some is, and I can replace that. But I lost alot out of this deal.

Took a few days, just to get my computer back to a working state. And I know what I am doing.

We had the virus name, and researched it online. Checked the anti-virus sites. Most everyone reports, once they got it.. they had to "re-format" their hard-drives. Many even said that, but said they still had it. I know what happened with them, they re-did the system from a stored copy on the hard-drive. Yet the virus probably infected that normally secure area. I'm just telling ya.. this one is BAD.

My system is clear.. but I lost alot. I'll still do whatever on a computer. Pisses me off when I lose it, or parts.. but I like the challenge figuring it out.

Here is ALL I know about "Win32:Vitro". This is from my own research.. not anything I read on the web. You may want to look to others too.. if you get this.
1) So far, this virus only infects .exe "executable files. It infects them at a "superfast" rate!
2) I am certain, I got this from watching movies online. Now a virus like this could come from most any executable program the authors want.. but right now seems to be attached to "online movies".
3) I am certain the current "Pink Panther 2", and "Friday 13th" movies online have the virus. That can change constant, as versions of these bootleg things come and go.

All anti-virus software has "Both" memory resident scanning, and signiture file scans. If at anytime your computer pops up with "Win32:Vitro" virus found... DO a FULL complete scan on your computer right then. Or, well.... you'll be fucked. You might be anyway.. cause this one is bad.

If you watch movies online... give it a break for a few. Soon, the anti virus peeps will solve this. As of now.. they haven't...
