Er Trip Today

Stephen, Roxann's 17 year old son is on his way to the "ER" as I write this. So I'll tell the story.

Today, I was pretty "proud" of myself. I got "Stephen, Jeremy, and their friend Steve" outside helping me in the yard. We got it mowed, we cleaned the shed out, we bagged alot of grass. I was thinking "this is cool", it rarely happens I get help.

Ok, well you know kids. Jeremy is 14, Stephen is 17. They tend to "fight alot". I don't know what started it. I think Jeremy thought Stephen wasn't working as hard as he was. So Jeremy made a slight "attack" at Stephen. Not violent or anything, it was just "kids" messing around.

So I was sitting in the garden doing stuff. I watched Stephen run fast, and do "flying kick" towards Jeremy. Jeremy got out of the way, and Stephen landed on one leg in a bad way.

I've been telling these kids forever.. if you KEEP fighting like you do, someone will get hurt. It WILL happen someday! I also been saying.. and I will "Laugh my ass off"... Well, I didn't laugh, that was more to say a point then.

Stephen is a 6'3" baby really. He pretends tough, but he couldn't swat a fly. When he landed on his leg, he "SCREAMED.. I broke my leg". I thought he was being a baby again. Your listening to someone who broke more bones then I even know. I understand injury a little. I decided to check on him. Even though I thought he was faking.

It was obvious, he "dis-located" his kneecap". You know how if you look at your kneecap, it sits in the middle. His was way off to the side. I mean, WAY off to the side. He needed medical attention. I called 911, and called Roxann.

They checked him out. Roxann said on the phone, "His insurance is no good now". She said.. I can be there in 10 minutes. I would rather drive him to the hospital myself, then "another big bill". I told the ambulance people that. They were cool. They waited for Roxann, and gave alot of help. They checked him over, offered him a stretcher to her car. he managed (finally) to walk on his good leg (with crutches) to the car.

It's probably not too serious. Just a dislocation. There is alot of swelling, and he is in alot of pain. He will get through it.. and probably be ok. Still he needs "X-Rays" and such to be certain nothing is worse. Plus he needs the "kneecap" put back to it's home.. lol.

It's too bad he isn't my "natural son". I wouldn't worry about the bill then. I'd let all you fuckers that are "against" universal healthcare pay for the bill. But no, he is "Roxann's". So this little trip will cost us (hell I don't know) $700, $800, $900.. I don't know. Depends what they do. She is trying to maintain her credit. Me, I LONG ago stopped worrying about that.

I'll update you on his condition soon. I expect them to be in the hospital for quite awhile.

I didn't cut any coins really. But I got alot of "yard work" done before this. So the day wasn't a waste :)

I'll keep you updated... Gary :)
