This is one thing, that has been on my mind the entire day. I wrote a blog about "Possession and Oppression". I can't think of another blog that "bothered" me as much as this (that I wrote myself). Not because of what I said. Not because of other posts (I got none), but because maybe I didn't "word" it right.
I just pulled out my "Bible" as well as "Concordance" to say a few things. I guess I was "thinking", maybe I should make this "Biblical facts". I decided against it. Mainly because, I am better "just talking". I mean, if I want to make "sense" on how I think.. best to be on the "fly".
Now, to you "Christians here", you feel you have "Christ" in your life. Correct? Jesus is in your life and he guides you. He is in you. Of course he is. Would however, you consider yourself "possessed" by Jesus? Meaning, does he "control your every thought and action"? No he doesn't. He "Guides you". He is in you "yes", but you always have your "free will also". Even the most "devout" Christian will sin.
Nobody is "possessed". Certainly not the way the "Exorcist" movie puts it. I consider it "Oppressed".
You can ask "Jesus" into your life. He will be in you. He will guide you. But he won't "control you". He guides you.
It's pretty much the same with "Satan". Invite him in. He will come. That one is for sure. But does he have "total control"? No he won't. You still have "free will"! I don't believe in "possession", I believe in "oppression". I believe if you invite "Satan in", he's there to say "everything he can against God". He cannot control you tho. If you invite "Jesus in" he will say everything against "Satan", but neither will he control.
Think of this one. If (for example) Hitler was "possessed" none of his "actions" would even be his fault. That would mean, God didn't allow him personal choices, as well as "anything he did wrong" were the "devil" and not him.
I am "very well" aware of all the scriptures. I know "exactly" which ones the "devout" Christians would argue against. Jesus cast out devils, all that. Were these "devils" oppressive, or possessive? (Legion, for I am many- probably rings a bell to most Christians).
Personally, I can't see people "possessed". Sure not like in the "Exorcist" movie. It goes against everything I know "Biblically", yet I know alot goes against me too. For "Scripture to" fit together (as it were), when "demons" were cast out. They were oppressive, not possessive. It has "alot more" to deal with how "scripture is interpreted" then anything. Gotta look to the "Hebrew and Greek".
Consider this one. If 1/3 of the Angels (the fallen ones) were cast out of Heaven (and on this earth now). And God himself put that number at "Enumerable" (A number you can't count). So like, there are millions (maybe billions) of fallen Angels here. Why aren't they "possessing" everyone in your neighborhood? Even the "Catholic church (which believes in possession), only finds a few cases of it a year.
But then again, ya never know. I could be wrong :)
