A Journey Into My Life

Life & Events > Gran Torino

Gran Torino

Today, I mostly watched movies on the computer. Yes I changed "Sebastian" a dozen times, and Yes I fed him.. filled up the bobble, and bounced him on my lap. Hell, I even made a nice "Chicken and stuffing" meal for the family, while the kids and Roxann were gone.

Now, in-between all this.. I still do other stuff. I watch movies, take care of business stuff while watching movies.. I read and respond to "emails" on what I can and cannot do (usually lots of them).

---------------

I watched "THREE (3)" movies today. All on the computer, and all new movies. All were good, but one really stood out to me. So this blog is about that "movie"...

GRAN TORINO - Clint Eastwood (and a new movie)...

So here is my review.. To me, it's one of the best movies I ever seen. Hell it's still in the theaters, but I just watched it free on the net (Megavideo.com or watch-movies.net).

The people that rated it (the collective of all reviews) rate it at 9.5/10.0. I would have to agree there.

There isn't (ANY) super stunts.. and it's not a huge budget movie (one of the things that makes it cooler). The "Story" is AWESOME! The "personal feelings stuff "Will get you crying". Clint Eastwood is a Great actor, and director.. he pulled this one off! To me, only he could do this thing right.

I am not sure you will all "get it" as much as I do. That's because, it was filmed in "Detroit- Detroit Suburb" areas, Detroit talking.. how people in that area relate. That stuff, I relate to well.. and even the "old farts" who were in Korea, WW2, Vietnam".. all those places. My whole life has been about listening to them.. so all this was "cool" to me. Because all was REAL sounding.

One of the "funny" things to me was.. how "Clint Eastwood" was teaching this young "Korean" boy how to "talk" to be cool... Clink loved him, but wanted him to have a "backbone" here.. The story is "Deep" (I can't say the movie.. you gotta watch).. but I can say... Clint "Nailed", how to talk to asses in Detroit.. lol.

I think if you live in that area, or been there alot.. you will get more out of it. If you are a vet of a foreign war you will get alot out of this movie too (as you will see how people age and think, what bothers them.. alot).

Great Movie! And even if nothing touches you personally.. it is still an "Awesome" one to watch"!

If anyone watches it.. please post here.. I would like to know what you thought..

Gary :)

Thanks for the movie critique. As a Detroiter, I will definitely watch as I enjoy seeing familiar landmarks of or near where I live AND I like Clint's stuff!

Gran Torino is the last movie Clint Eastwood will ever act in. He said he'll still direct but has officially retired from acting.
