Damn, I am "exhausted". I just got back from that "Polish Festival" in "Sterling Heights" Michigan. I can't remember being this tired after a day in a show in "quite awhile".
It was a long day. I think we woke at "6am". Over an hour drive there and back (maybe an hour and half, I don't remember). Setting up, moving the car to the parking.. all that was a "pain in the ass".
It was actually a really "fun time"! Some shows I do are just plain boring. This one was "fun" (Just a really long day and we go back tomorrow).
Gobs of people. However, I really didn't sell that well. I made the "show fee" within the first few hours (So wasn't bad), but I expected alot more sales.
I was set up about 10 feet away from the "beer tent". Actually, at this festival you could drink anywhere. I drank.. "of course".. lol, but I didn't get drunk. Just maintained a mild buzz. That's the thing I think. Everyone was there to "party" not shop. Actually.. (and I asked alot of people).. most of them weren't Polish. Just there for a good time.
I hooked up with the guy next to me. He wants to start doing some shows together. I think next weekend will be our first. He sells all "Christian stuff", but is still a regular guy too. I left my entire display for him to watch tonight (he sleeps in his tent), as there was no way they would let vehicles back in that late with that many people. Anyway, he wants to do a show together (that he's already in) in "Romulus MI" (also near Detroit). So far, I'll all for it. Downtown on the city streets.
I am Polish though, and "proud of it". So I enjoyed the "Heritage" aspect. Roxann is Polish too. The food was "expensive" so I just ate what we brought. Her, Stephen, and Sebastian ate "Polish food". We had packed coolers tho.. so I was ok. I was just happy to have a "beer" now and then when I wanted. We weren't supposed to take any food in, coolers, or anything like that but we did. Vendors get away with it more. If we had tried to "walk in" with all that.. ssomeone would've complained. We drove in, and once leaving everyone there was "drunk".. lol. So we had no problems.
Tomorrow could be better. I don't know. It's a shorter day, but the last day. And I got alot of exposure today.. so wish me luck!
No pictures this time. I thought about taking some but I think I bore you with that. I do a show every weekend.. so if you ever want some I got no problem posting.
Take care all, Gary :)
