What is the definition of reasonable doubt? Does the judge tell the jury what that means before they begin deliberations? As a judge you see things in a legal way, right? As a spectator, Florida juries confound me - even Casey Anthony got off...

I sure don't know what happened between Zimmerman and Martin - but he did kill a person. He'll have to live with that on his conscience even though he was acquitted. Zimmerman is a young man too (only 29) - he's got a lot of years to think about his actions.

Michigan allows concealed weapons with a special permit. Scares me to think about it.

Why hasn't Carm filed assault charges against him? Would he hurt Zee in revenge? Sounds like he needs to be locked up.

I was baptized in the most radical, liberal church in the city, then grew up attending a Presbyterian church. However, my mother grew up Catholic and went to Catholic schools so I was raised with the Catholic mindset and beliefs. Now I'd call myself a Deist. No matter what you decide, you will raise her with good values because you have good values.

What a shock. It is true that cancer treatment is really hard on people, especially the elderly. My 91 year old grandmother had non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and started radiation but it was awful so she stopped it. My brother-in-law had AML and lived about 18 months with some kind of experimental treatment. He was 50 so much stronger.

What a horrible person! Doesn't Texas have a law that requires the cops to arrest abusers? Some states do and some don't. I think if the hittee says the hitter did it, the cops have to arrest even if they don't see them do it. Emotional abuse can be worse than physical. I hate bullies. How sad for all of you!

If I ever decide to commit murder, I'll do it in Florida. I mean even Casey Anthony got off! I agree that the "stand your ground law" is barbaric - but I've read that it may be changed soon. I read that Zimmerman's bail was revoked when he and his wife messed around with the funds that had been raised for his defense. That's how I learned that he was married. Stupidity, racism and a violent nature aren't enough to prevent a person from getting married. Glad there hasn't been any violent reaction to the verdict.

Speaking as a daughter who has moved into her mother's house - I sympathize with you. It's hard to live together again after so many years - especially for you and me who are so independent. Adding to the situation are your physical problems. For me it's that I'm taking the role of sort of "parenting" my mother.
It's too bad the meds didn't work for you. They can do wonders for some.

Bracken Cave isn't far from San Antonio - don't know what direction you are but it's a very interesting place. Something like 20,000 bats live in it and they all come out at dusk to feed. When I was there they were still coming after 3 hours... There were hawks and other birds of prey hanging around and now and then, they grabbed a bat for their own meal. Sounds like you're in a pretty part of Tx.
