Film Festival This Weekend

This is the trailer for "An American Opera." It's probably not what you're thinking though, it's a film about the efforts to rescue animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

"Tom McPhee went to Gonzales, Louisiana and volunteered at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, and for the next 22 months he documented this historic event as it unfolded, trying to understand where it all went wrong and how one fearless woman got it right."

Please be aware that there are some very disturbing scenes both in the trailer and the film. Some sheriff's deputies were shooting dogs - any dogs and all dogs they saw one day. It's the kind of thing that gives me nightmares for months on end.

I'll be watching at the Waterfront Film Festival, in Saugatuck, MI, Saturday morning. I've never gone, but I want to go this time! I guess I've missed a lot over the ears as the list of films past reads like a who's who of important (and just out right funny) movies. Not all of them have gone straight to DVD either.

Here's a link to the festival website: https://www.waterfrontfilm.org/index.php?p=2&s=3
