When my children were little, we would have 300 trick or treaters on Halloween. Our neighborhood was all young families-only three houses without children. Then those children grew up and for a long time we would only get 30 or so trick or treaters. Now the numbers are climbing again. On Monday we had about 100 little people come by. Not from our street, as there are only 7 houses with children. These are from far flung streets in the village, all accompanied by adults. My daughter took grandson #1 out for two hours. They came back with enough candy to stock a small store. Grandson is sharing with us. I get the dark chocolate. Who gives dark chocolate to children? I don't care; I am just grateful. Yum.
My son is a nut for jack-o-lanterns. He and his wife carved 10 pumpkins, gourds and squashes. Amazing what one can do with a squash.
Troutbend and Solitaire- you are missing out, living out in the country.
