Trick or Treat

When my children were little, we would have 300 trick or treaters on Halloween. Our neighborhood was all young families-only three houses without children. Then those children grew up and for a long time we would only get 30 or so trick or treaters. Now the numbers are climbing again. On Monday we had about 100 little people come by. Not from our street, as there are only 7 houses with children. These are from far flung streets in the village, all accompanied by adults. My daughter took grandson #1 out for two hours. They came back with enough candy to stock a small store. Grandson is sharing with us. I get the dark chocolate. Who gives dark chocolate to children? I don't care; I am just grateful. Yum.

My son is a nut for jack-o-lanterns. He and his wife carved 10 pumpkins, gourds and squashes. Amazing what one can do with a squash.

Troutbend and Solitaire- you are missing out, living out in the country.

Not really (missing out). I've had my days. We used to take our kids around, including farm houses. Lot of driving! And I love dark chocolate!

The only enjoyment I get for Halloween is taking my kids out..it won''t be long before they outgrow it. To me it's just another day, no more..no less.

Too soon they get to be middle schoolers with no need for mom supervision trick or treating.

I'm glad to hear you had more children this year---it's a scary world out there with 'adults' sabotaging candy.

My daughter goes through the candy, piece by piece, before any of it gets eaten.

Mr. Troutbend is in Las Vegas, and Scrooge that he is with respect to Halloween, he checked into the Rio Hotel for that night. I would have liked to see what the little kids next door came up with for costumes, maybe next year.

I would imagine that there are very crazy costumes on the adults in Vegas.
