Its Wednesday already, Fridays a holiday and man I sure can use the break.

I have finally visited every health department clinic we have and some interesting results. With over 500 employees, only two have said they liked my long hair better than my new, aerodynamic look. The rest favor the "new do". One person said the new do makes me look older, while several dozen have said it makes me look younger. Ten or twelve still smile and shake their head, still not quite believing the new look and radical change in appearance. Several ladies still like rubbing my head and thats the part I really dig! lol

As for work, yesterday, my supervisor was named "employee of the month" for July. His boss, his bosses old boss, (now the 2nd in command at the health department and the director were on hand first thing in the morning to celebrate the event. The second in command personally made a crumb coffee cake that was out of this world and we had a good little meeting to start the day. My bosses boss kinda hogged most of the conversation, heaping praise on my boss for coming in on Saturdays on his own time and making up stories about "all this electrical work that he performs around the place". Not a word was mentioned in front of the director about the almost daily temper tantrums my boss pitches, throwing his hat around, breaking pencils, throwing tools around the shop, yelling, screaming, cussing, being hard-headed, argumentative and generally acting like a spoiled 6 year old, instead of the 61 year old supervisor that he is. After almost three years on the job, he still has lots of problems filling out the simple paper work he has to do. He routinely picks up the wrong materials we need for our jobs and is massively absent-minded about everything he says or does. As shocking as all this was for us "peons", the biggest shock was when my bosses boss said he was working on getting "modest" raises for me and "T" and bigger raises for his two "buddies", "D" and my boss. Of course, he told us that news AFTER the two "top dogs" had left the meeting, so I'll believe the raise part when I see it actuall reflected in my paycheck. Mine is supposed to be about a buck an hour, which is nice, but after almost three years is a little too little and a bit too late. Of course, first thing this morning, it was "business as usual" again in the shop. Oh well, nobody ever promised me a rose garden!

Hopefully, everyone is having a better week, with a promising holiday weekend full of fun, love and laughter awaiting them!
