Allen's Car, My Camera, Part 3 Holiday Park

(IN ALLEN'S CAR)

In the middle of Fort Lauderdale there is 93 acres of fun, fields, sports, open air musical concerts, fauna of all kinds, animals just to mention a few things. It is about a mile and a half from where I live but as far as my getting there it might as well be on the moon because of my COPD and PAD it is almost impossible to walk there. Having Allen’s car I am there in 5 minutes and I can sit and read under a  tree or just relax and watch people playing tennis at the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center or people playing soccer, football, baseball, racquetball, shuffleboard, volleyball or using the walking/jogging trails while others are using the exercise islands. There is a huge playground for kids, the Parker Playhouse to see the latest comedians and singing groups plus the War Memorial auditorium for pet, gun, antique shows among many others. There are memorials dedicated to the Merchant Marines, a WW2 airplane among other mementos of the 1940s.

This is just a short video of some of the many things one can do and see at Holiday Park.

1-7) Welcome to the park.

8-10) Aside from the various playing fields there are trees, flora and assorted fauna.

11-12) Always some game going on or exercise being done or, someone like me just watching them!

13-15) Some of my friends

16-18) One day a beautiful old tree had a sign on it that basically said it was going to be cut down, not giving any reason, but giving a phone number to call which I planned to do except the next day I went back and it was already cut down!

19) One of the two police patrol officer horses in Broward County where Fort Lauderdale is.

That's cool. I didn't know any city in Florida could spare 93 acres for that sort of thing. You've got a regular Central Park.
