Window Shopping

I like to browse around on the Internet for toys I used to have as a kid or household items my mother or grandmother had, things we no longer have. I save the pictures in a file I call my Catalog of Things. This saves me from having to spend money on 'things.' Over the years I look back through these pictures for a trip down memory lane, and once in awhile I'll see something at an auction that I've decided I'd really like to have and buy it.

This is a toy I had as a kid, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's called a Hoot-e-nanny or something like that. It came with paper disks to are placed on the black part, and a pen is placed in the end of that metal thing with holes. The holes are placed on pins that are adjusted according to the directions for the different designs, and then you crank the thing and you get the design.

This is a Hall teapot. I might have a teapot collection if I had more room.

Sometimes I get ideas of ways to display things I already have, like this sewing basket:

My kids used to have one of those "make your own designs" thingamabobs. (What, no yellow spell check notification?!). You do watch Antique Roadshow, don't you?

I occasionally watch the Roadshow. I couldn't believe how much high-end stuff there was in Palm Springs.

That is a cool idea - and it saves you lots of money!

I've reached the time in life where I can't imagine buying more physical stuff (haven't been to an auction in a long time, that's a different deal ) but I have a hard time buying gifts for people because I figure they don't want a bunch of junk cluttering up their homes, either.

I have put away most of my teapots. I am just keeping the best.

Your teapot collection, the way it was set out at your other house, was the first thing I saw there, and I'll never forget how it made me feel so welcome.

The hard copy stuff I cut from catalogs gets pasted into a scrapbook.
