Walmart Free Cupcake This Sunday

Everyone, everywhere.

Happy birthday, everybody! Seriously, everybody.

Walmart has declared Sunday, March 12, everybody’s birthday and will be giving out one free cupcake to each person at their Supercenters from 1 to 4 p.m. – regardless of when their actual birthday is.

Customers don’t need any coupons or special codes, they just have to show up and pick between a chocolate or vanilla cupcake with buttercream or whipped topping. Walmart expects to give away 3 million cupcakes this Sunday.

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward an hour Saturday night for Daylight Saving Time - so you procrastinators don’t show up after the promotion ends at 4.

It is almost my bday so maybe they'd give me a dozen. But I wouldn't go even for that many, although the icing does sound like the best part. It would have been fun to see how many times I could go through without getting stopped tho.

You could get one, change your coat outside, come back in. In the 1960s my mother used to do that when sugar was on sale with a per customer limit.

I won't be there but it is nice to know.

Yes, it cheered me up just to think about it.

Ah, the magic of cupcakes. I can picture a long stream of people with little kids in line for it. Reminds me of way long ago when Pogue's department store (I think, or Shillito's) had a sort of Christmas candyland giveaway that took up a big part of the upper floor.

With all this cupcake hoopla the past how many years, I have never had one of those fancy designer ones that sell for a lot, and probably never will. It's fun to think about all the passion and energy that has gone into this trend to elevate something as unlikely as cupcakes.

One time I asked my husband what is his favorite flavor of cake, and he said 'wedding cake, not because I like weddings, I just like the cake.' One of the best things about spending a life with someone is finding out things like this.
