Update on the Cat

Remember I said Eloise needed an infected tooth removed? She had the surgery on Friday, and they also removed two other teeth. There are stitches that will dissolve, and she has kitty morphine that is in little needle-less syringes that I squirt into her mouth twice a day. I don't know if it's working or not, but she's not acting very chipper. She's eating soft food, and quite a bit of it, but she stays up in the bedroom all the time, sometimes under the bed, sometimes under a chair. I think she's gradually feeling better, but we have a way to go.

I can get more pain med from the vet if needed. I'll see how she acts tomorrow and decide if I should call them. It could be the morphine has her sedated.

Teeth are a major concern for all cats. It's hard to keep them clean and professional cleanings require anesthesia.

It is the morphine. She will mend.

Laura, see if they have a cat treat that cleans their teeth. I give Rex
a denta stix before we go to bed and one after he earts in the morning.
It seems to keep his teeth clean and he loves them.

Her eating sounds like a good sign. Maybe she's dizzy, though. Pore puddy tat.

I was so happy to see she was willing to keep eating because that's such a worry after surgery.

Yup, a comfortably numb cat.

This afternoon she started acting more like herself: looking out the window, resting on the bed, took a little bath. Maybe the morphine wore off and she's feeling better. I can't decide whether to give her the rest of the doses tonight and tomorrow morning, seems like I should use it up, even if it dopes her out.

Poor Eloise!

I don't want to put her through this again, so we're going to have to start brushing her teeth. No idea how much she'll cooperate.
