Summer Pictures

The repaired garage door - that skinny part on the left-hand door. Fortunately the rest of the door was not as damaged.

Spring runoff. This is as deep as our river will be all year. Unless it rains for a week.

At the guest cabin next door. These wildflowers established themselves after the flood. If we wanted something to grow there, it wouldn't have.

This graphic illustrates how water from the western slope of the Rockies is transported to the eastern slope via a tunnel to fill various reservoirs and be distributed to agricultural use. It's called the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, and our river is part of it.

Do you ever sit on the big rocks and dangle your bare feet in the water? I would be so tempted.

We don't have many big rocks left after the two big floods 30 years apart. I keep thinking about when we'd visit back when I was growing up, and we had all kinds of big rocks along the edge where we could fish and dangle our feet. I'm glad you reminded me about that while we are in the river design phase.

I can't forget the bears being in that barn. I guess you don't either.

When that young bear came back earlier this summer, he/she removed the temporary repair on that door even though there was not any garbage/food in there. They have good memories and will probably test the new door for years to come.

It makes me want to come for a visit.

Looking at the wildflowers--Mother Nature goes where she wants to go!!

That's what the hydrologists tell everyone about the river when people say they want it back where it was pre-flood.
