The snow is melting rapidly because we've had hot days and warm nights, and the weather people keep warning us that conditions are right for some heavy rains, but I'll believe that when I see it.
The river by our house is as high as it has been all year, but not a threat because it is still about half of what it would be if the Bureau of Reclamation wasn't sending half of the runoff through tunnels to avoid sending it down the canyon.
Down below us, side streams are adding to the river, and that's where the riverbanks were severely damaged and recently repaired. This year is unusual because the soil is saturated so the little side streams are running higher than normal.
Here is the river this morning. Since we lost a bunch of trees, we have a much better view of it from the house.
We had a rare visit from this couple the other day.
This is downstream from us - the eroded bank was filled in with dirt, but no boulders, so the higher water is gradually washing it away. That tree was standing a few days ago, and has now fallen into the river.
