Septic Tank Guy

I'm waiting for the septic tank guy to come and pump out our vault. I think that it is full, and there are people coming to stay in that cabin on Thursday. If he doesn't get here before they do, they will have to come stay in our master bedroom (it has its own bath).

So I'm telling myself that even though the man said he couldn't get here until next week, I'm hoping I was able to talk him into coming sooner. Other vendors I called couldn't get here for two weeks.

On the assumption that I will be able to hear his truck when he gets here (that cabin is about 1/8 mile away) I keep running out there to look. The last time it was thunder from a big gray cloud coming over the mountain.

Mr. Troutbend is on the way home from Las Vegas today. I think this is a day early because he needs to look at the septic and figure out if being full is the problem. He didn't do great in the bowling - missed some cut by 3 pins (this happens all the time), but it sounds like he made a little progress in one of the tournaments. But at least he got those free bowling shoes and free ball.

His cat is very anxious to see him and is resting his chin on my arm while I type this, with lots of purring.

I'm going to have to clean house if those Texans who were going to stay in the one cabin are going to be in the master bedroom.

Yikes! I didn't know I was supposed to have it pumped out every two years! We had it done about 8 years ago but not since. I also have two drain fields so if I could ever figure out how to switch from one to the other, I might have to take a home equity loan out to get them pumped out.
BTW, it's intersting that you have Waste Management out there. I thought it was only in Michigan, where it is close to a monopoly. Their prices are much higher than other companies here too.

There isn't a leach field attached to the tank?? We get ours pumped every 2 years or so to clean out the solids that don't go out to the field. It cost $150 this year (a special), but it looks like the going rate is now $250+.

There must be some rule of thumb by which to more accurately compute when a septic tank requires pumping out. Maybe you should check out ruleofthumb.com...

Counting poop use is not a problem I hope to ever have. You have
my sympathy. One of the good things about our house is it is
connected to the sewer system. Yay, sewers. But the glories of
being where you are make up for it I am sure.

Hope they are able to find the problem, we had to have ours pumped a few months ago...that was a pain..
