My Road is Mostly Fixed

I have been very busy going to river restoration meetings, two of them yesterday. And today I walked around the property with a lady from the Land Trust looking to see where we might need grass and wildflower seed to re-vegetate the flood-damaged areas.

After she left, I saw a county truck in the yard, and it was a Building Code Compliance Officer checking on the damage to the cabin next door. We had a nice conversation, and I was happy to hear they aren't going to classify that house as damaged by the flood. He could see that it needs some work, but no major structure problems.

My road has been repaired to where I can drive up to the house, so I can finally get up to the front door.

The river is still low. One of these days I am going to compare this picture to some I took before the flood at low water to see if the rocks have been rearranged.

The flood was six months ago on the 12th, so each day I am thinking of what I was doing on the first days.

Thanks, Larry. Everything has its time, I suppose.

Okay so now you are being spoiled again--car to front door--road fixed--and so you can start counting rocks!!!!

Today I spent some time trying to dig rocks and sand away from the trees so they won't dry. What a big job that is going to be.

How nice to be able to get your cars out of the garage and not have to
tote everything you come home with up the path. Yea!!

The cars are still stuck in the garage - both batteries are dead, and only half the drive up to the house is semi-fixed. If I really wanted them out, I could manipulate them out of there, though, but I'd just have to put them back again.

This is progress. Happy you can drive right up to the cabins. Keep posting these great pix.

Just when I feel sorry for myself that it took a full six months to get that done, I'll meet someone who is still living in a motel cooking meals with a microwave, waiting for their road to be fixed. I invited them to come over for dinner because I remember how much I wished someone would invite me for dinner when I was in the motel for 20 days.

Back?

He's not coming here until mid-May when the bowling leagues are finished. He's probably dreading it because there will be so much more to do. And I bet he takes a week or two vacation back in Las Vegas for the Fourth of July bowling tournaments just to get away.
