Just in time for the next flood, the car is finally out of the garage and functioning. It was a very emotional moment for me when I saw it sitting out front like nothing ever happened, which sounds silly, but that's PTSD for you.

If the bridge had not been washed out, I could have driven the old truck and the car over the grass in front of the house to get out, but by the time It was accessible, the battery on the car was dead. Because it's a hybrid car, the replacement battery cost $375. This wasn't the special battery pack that makes it a hybrid - it looks like a regular car battery, but it's special, too. It was 2007 battery, so had lived its life, not the fault of the flood. In a way, it's a relief because now I won't have to worry about it failing on me when least expected.
My zinnias from old seeds have done really well in the raised garden. I planted them inside early this spring. Our nights have been too cool this summer for the vegetables to really produce much, but I enjoy watering them and checking on their progress.
