Our 6 day guests left this morning about 6 o'clock. He's a Chevy dealer in a tiny town in the northwest part of Illinois, almost in Indiana, and she works for a hospital, running the medical records department. They have come almost every year for the past 4 or 5 years and consider this their home in the mountains, although they don't spend a lot of time here because they go hiking and shopping all day every day.
I don't usually hang out with the guests because I want them to feel like that's their own place, not on loan from us, but I always make a sugar-free cherry pie for Les and another regular pie for the rest of the family. They have us over for burgers and we bring the pies.
They also shared a couple of other meals, most appreciated because we were in the midst of cleaning out our garage and I was too busy to cook.
They leave the place very clean, and I keep their rent low out of appreciation, plus they send new people to stay with us.
We're going to have a busy month, all returning guests, and I always feel a little bit lonely when they leave. This is the first time we've had so much business in June, I think because the weather got warm so early this year.
July is usually our busiest month, and so far it's not so much, but I think we'll get some last minute business.
The poppies behind that cabin are coming into bloom.
