Jinx

I don't want to jinx it by celebrating too early, but I finally talked the state transportation department into looking at our upper driveway in terms of whether it is in their highway right-of-way and therefore they should help get it repaired so they don't lose the highway at some point.

Friday some surveyors came and put in stakes to indicate the right-of-way. Hot damn! The entire bad part of my embankment is in that right-of-way.

See that stake in the gap there?

This is it from a different angle:

Of course that's where the jinx comes in: I don't want to get too excited until I hear from them.

Snow is in the forecast, and I will have to park my truck above the bad part of the driveway because two different contractors have said the upper driveway could collapse any time if we get a lot of wet weather.

Meanwhile, I bought a new wood splitting wedge that I use with a sledge hammer. Sometimes it gets stuck in a log and I can't get it out, just have to keep working on it until it splits.

This made me laugh:

We used to call the iron wedge we used for sledge-hammering and splitting logs a "Grenade."

Okay if you are going to keep working like a lumberjack, you need to get a tattoo and wear a plaid shirt. Good news indeed. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks - keep the good thought. If I don't hear back from the project engineer early next week, the suspense is going to kill me.

Hopefully all will go well with the highway--whatever happened to using an axe to split wood?
What's behind the billboard? I can't read the small print at the bottom.

I have an axe that has little wedge deals built in, but I'm not strong enough to use it. The billboard is about men who don't get standard wellness medical tests.

Wow! This could be wonderful news about the driveway. I am keeping my
fingers crossed.

Oh, I can barely stand to think about it because what if they say it doesn't change their opinion.
