The Rio is the three-armed shaped on the right, and the Gold Coast's parking garage is that gray rectangle between the Rio and the white roof of the Gold Coast.
It's a longer walk to go down to the corner at Flamingo Road to use the crosswalk, so most people jaywalk across that street about where those arrows are painted on the lanes.
Cars come racing around the corner, and it's such a wide street, it can be very dangerous. A few weeks ago, a couple in their 70s from Tennessee or Kentucky or somewhere like that were jaywalking and got mowed down by a hit-and-run driver - yet to be found.
Mr. Troutbend tells me:
"There are some interesting spray painted lines, circles, and squares – color-coded and most with accompanying text – on the pavement on southbound Valley View here by the Gold Coast. “PED FMâ€, PED Mâ€, “BRACELETâ€, “EARRINGâ€, “SHOE LTâ€, “SHOE Râ€, “TOOTHâ€, “AICâ€, “VENTâ€, “VEH PARTâ€, etc. I get a good look at them as I jaywalk past."
And today: "Another marking in the street I noticed is “CARDSâ€. Wonder if that would be slot cards."
