If we get some warmer weather, the ice forming in the river will probably melt. If not, it will continue to build up. On warm days, the water will run over the top of the ice and then freeze, building the ice thicker from the top down.
The other day one of our credit cards required an online password reset, but there was a website problem so we were having to email each other about it. One of the security questions was 'What was your high school's mascot?' Mr. Troutbend's high school was John F Kennedy High School, and I had no idea what they would call their mascot. My guess was 'Marilyn Monroe,' but it turned out to be the Commanders. We're not using that because I would probably not remember.

I can think of the cartoons that would depict these, but what does a Commander look like? Navy uniform? There really is a Farmer mascot: Wheatridge High School, a Denver suburb. The schools that are truly in farm country and attended by real farmers don't pick that particular mascot, although the University of Nebraska chose the Corn Husker.
