Good News About the Fish

image

I just read an article about post-flood studies of fish populations in my part of the river. Surprisingly, there are more fish than a year ago, and they are healthy. Further downstream, the news is not as good, but the outlook for the entire river making a come-back is very good. Since a good part of my annual income is from fishing, this is wonderful news, but even if it wasn't a money matter, I'd be glad to know the fish are okay.

Glad to hear about your fish.....not that I'd be trying to catch them. Poor little fellas.

Looks cold--beautiful but cold!
Hurray for the fish!

The river freezes over, and then it will thaw a little and water runs over the top of the ice and freezes, so it gets thicker from the top up. This is a pre-flood picture that I've always liked so much. It's good to know the fish are okay.

I am looking out this morning at a fairy land. Ice on everything and the
world is sparkly.

When I look at your house with Google Street View, there are branches piled in the yards, and I've always wondered if there was an ice storm right before those pictures were taken.

pollution is doing a lot of harm in our rivers , happily our main river is having a revival with our native species growing in number , the European carp is the culprit .

Invasive species are always a problem for us, and the fact that some of them were introduced on purpose decades ago is discouraging.
