The other day I saw a pair of my wool gloves mashed down into the grass and all sandy from being run over many times. I must have dropped them two or three months ago and didn't realize it. One of them was frozen to the ground, and it would tear it if I tried to rip it free. Today I took a jar of hot water over there and poured on it, and it came loose. Now they are soaking in water to get the sand out.
We saw the fox tonight after dark. It sure looks like the one that was here in daylight the other day, so I don't know why it's acting so spooked unless it's still scared of the cat. If you ask her about it, that fox should be scared because any chance she gets, she'll run him off again. Right this minute she's staring out the window into the back yard where he was last seen.
More of the river ice melts every day, and brings us closer to fishing season and clean up day when the fishermen and some boy scouts are coming to help clean debris out of the river and along the banks. The hydrologist said some of the natural debris - tree branches and grasses - is good because it slows down the flood waters. But we need to sort out the bits of houses, clothing, and pieces of metal that are mixed in there.
Before clean up day, there are a number of things I need to get done, so I'm making my lists. I can't start doing them until the road work is done. I'm excited because 6 loads of dirt were delivered today, so we might be only a week or two away. But I've said that five or six times over the past three months, so it probably jinxes it to even think about it getting done.
