Fishermen

The fishing club members came yesterday and put up a cable with signs to indicate our property boundary over by the county park. We have a lot of trouble with park visitors coming onto our land, and the no trespassing signs washed away in the flood. The reason we need to keep it posted is because it's dangerous and we don't want to be held responsible if something happens to them.

There are two "Private Property" signs on the cable, one on each end of the snow fence segment. We need to put out some more signs, but it's a good start.

After lunch there was fishing with lots of success.

When I was working out on the fishing pier, I used to see guys catch a fish, take 20 minutes to measure it to see if it was okay to keep, discuss its size -- the fish died before it ever got back into the water. I wanted to strangle them.

I feel like the fish here are our pets, and am glad that most of the fishermen who come via the fishing club know how to release them properly. Hugs to you.

Fishing is too slow and too dull for me.

Fly fishermen are constantly twitching the line to place the fly in front of the fish, and they have to hold their arm just right, and figure out what kind of bugs are hatching, and if the fish don't bite the lure they are using, they have to change it for another one. And they are wading in treacherous, rocky water, so they're constantly worried about their balance. It's too active for me.

Fishing is good when you sit in a rowboat drifting around out on the water reading a book.

Yes, on a nice day - not too hot, not too cold.

I tried fishing once. I rather enjoyed it until I actually caught an ugly rock cod and was horrified to see my boyfriend club it to death. Now you know why I only tried fishing once.

That'd do it for me, too.

Oh that would be terrible if u were held responsible for trespassers!

There was a trespasser who died on our property in 2003, crushed by a rock on the riverbank he pulled down on himself. His family never said boo about it because they were religious, and figured it was his day to die, and he was obviously trespassing - came past a slew of signs.

I enjoy watching people fish, but have not been tempted.
