Fall Colors

Here in Colorado our fall color is mostly the golds and oranges of aspens.

I think this picture would make an excellent painting.

Comments:

no color changes down here -- Frangipani lose their leaves and look geometric. I miss the northern fall. I also like the nip in the air before the weather gets really cold.

Not really--our trees lose their leaves but more likely in March!!!

Our trees are just starting to change now. Nothing as spectacular as yours though. The second picture is a beauty. Well, so is the first.

Late in the afternoon, the golden hour, the pockets of bright leaves out in the forest just glow.

GORGEOUS is an understatement!

I didn't know what kind of year it'd be, what with the drought.

Yes! That's GORGEOUS! WOW!

I want to start an aspen grove at the back of my yard, but don't know if they will transplant successfully.

Beautiful pictures. Our leaves haven't turned yet.
PICTURES! How did you do that?

They were little tiny in size. It was when it worked for the small ones. Now, I think it's all fixed.

Lovely. Those old falling down wood fences have such character!
comment by elderjane on Sept 27, 2012 5:29 PM ()
That fence out in the woods like that seems to have a story to tell us.

Not in Florida--we are still all green!
comment by greatmartin on Sept 27, 2012 5:24 PM ()
And will stay all green, right?
reply by troutbend on Sept 29, 2012 10:09 PM ()
We don't have anything like that gold around here!

I hope you'll post a picture of the fall colors in your area some time.

The cottonwoods do turn yellow... and the aspens on Cedar Mtn, of course. They were at their peek yesterday 9/29, often with shades of red mixed into the yellow.

I wonder if the cottonwoods in Zion turn bright yellow.
